The Korea Professional Football Association (KPA) will host the “K League International Youth Cup Incheon 2023” (the “Youth Cup”) in the Incheon Metropolitan Area from March 3 to 9 next month to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the K League.메이저놀이터
The Youth Cup will be held to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the K League and to improve the competitiveness of K League youth teams and to promote international exchange. It is organized and hosted by the League and the Incheon Metropolitan Football Association, and sponsored by the Incheon Metropolitan City, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Korea Sports Promotion Organization.
A total of 12 teams will participate, including five K League youth teams (FC Seoul, Suwon Samsung, Incheon United, Jeonbuk Hyundai, and Pohang Steelers), four European teams (Wolverhampton Wanderers FC (England), RSC Anderlecht (Belgium), Valencia CF, and Real Sociedad (Spain)), two Asian teams (Tokyo Verdi (Japan) and Chonburi FC (Thailand)), and Bupyeong High School invited by the Incheon Metropolitan Football Association.
The participation age is U-17 (born on or after January 1, 2006). The tournament format is divided into two groups, A and B, with six teams playing five group games per group, followed by a final ranking match between the top two teams in each group.
The group stage will be held from September 3 to 8 at venues around Incheon, including the Incheon Munhak Stadium Auxiliary Stadium, the Incheon Asiad Auxiliary Stadium, and the Namdong Asiad Rugby Stadium. The final, featuring the top-ranked teams, will be played on Sept. 9 at the Incheon Football Stadium.
Following the draw on Friday (Sept. 11), Group A will feature Valencia CF, RSC Anderlecht, Chonburi FC, Jeonbuk Hyundai, Pohang Steelers, and Incheon United, while Group B will feature Real Sociedad, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, Tokyo Verdi, Suwon Samsung, FC Seoul, and Bupyeong High School.
In addition, the participating teams will hold a coaches’ seminar during the tournament to learn about the approaches and training methodologies of each country’s youth system, and the international guest teams will have the opportunity to experience Korean culture by visiting key attractions.
The federation plans to successfully organize the tournament and expand its scope in the future to develop it into the best youth tournament in Asia.
