Iniesta ‘turns 39 this year’: “I still love playing and training…my goal is to develop UAE football”

Andres Iniesta (39, Spain), who plays for Emirates Club in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Professional League (First Division), has revealed his unwavering passion for soccer. He also said he hopes his experience will help develop the game in the UAE.

In an interview with CNN on Tuesday (U.S. time), Iniesta said he is happy with his life in the UAE.

Iniesta, who made his professional debut with Barcelona’s second team in 2000, made his first-team debut in 2002 and stayed with the club for 18 years until 2018. He then played for Vissel Kobe in Japan’s J-League 1 from 2018-2023 before joining the Emirates club as a free agent this season.

“When I left Japan, I had to make a choice (about my next team), and I had to make a decision that would benefit both myself and my family,” Iniesta said, adding that the UAE was the best option.

He added: “There is a lot of room for growth in UAE football. I am using my experience to the fullest to develop the game here,” he said. “I am happy with my life here and will continue to make the most of it.”

“Even though I’m older, I still want to play and I enjoy training,” Iniesta added.

Iniesta said he is particularly interested in developing soccer in the UAE.

“Good players who have played in Europe for a long time are gradually coming to the UAE and other countries,” he said. “Football is a global sport. It is important for clubs to train and develop their players to the level of their fans.”메이저사이트
