The SSG Landers and NC Dinos will face off in the semifinals for a playoff spot.
SSG and NC will meet in the first round of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League Postseason Semi-Playoffs (best-of-three) at SSG Landers Field in Incheon, South Korea, at 2 p.m. on April 22.
On this day, SSG will be starting Elias, while NC will be starting Shin Min-hyuk.
The day before the game, the KBO announced the finalized roster for the Semi-Po. The most notable addition to the NC squad is the return of Eric Peddie, who has been one of the league’s best aces this season. Peddie is the favorite to win the league MVP award after posting a 20-win, 200-strikeout season.
Previously, Peddie suffered a bruise on his right arm after being hit by a pitch hit by Ko Jong-wook in the regular season against the KIA Tigers on April 16, and was removed from the roster for the postseason wild-card game against the Doosan Bears due to a minor injury.
NC also included catcher Park Dae-on and outfielder Shin Jae-hwan, who were left off the roster for the wild-card game, in the semi-postseason roster. Pitcher Han Jae-seung, infielder Kim Soo-yoon, and outfielder Park Han-geup were removed from the roster for the semifinals.
However, NC did not send Eric Peddie to the mound immediately in Game 1 and gave him a rest.
How have the starting pitchers fared against each other?
SSG starter Elias went 8-6 with a 3.70 ERA in 22 regular-season games this year. Against NC, he was a little less successful, going 1-1 with a 7.53 ERA in three games.
However, on April 16, Elias pitched seven innings of one-run ball against the Doosan Bears in his final start of the regular season. His recent strong outings have paved the way for him to be named the Game 1 starter.토스카지노 주소
However, Elias was easily exploited by the NC offense. He has been vulnerable to many NC hitters this season, including Park Min-woo (5-for-3), Jason Martin (8-for-3, 1 home run), Seo Ho-cheol (5-for-2), and Park Se-hyuk (2-for-1, 1 home run).
There are also concerns about Elias, as he struggled on Oct. 3, giving up five runs on eight hits and four earned runs in 3 1/3 innings, and seven runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings on Oct. 8.
NC starter Shin Min-hyuk will make his first postseason start. This season, Shin is 5-5 with a 3.98 ERA.
Shin has also struggled against SSG this season, going winless with a 6.57 ERA in four games. He has also struggled against SSG hitters Choi Ji-hoon (5-for-3), Han Yoo-seom (4-for-2), and Choi Joo-hwan (6-for-2, 2 home runs).
However, Shin Min-hyuk, who pitched five innings of two-hit ball against the KIA Tigers in his last outing on April 17, was selected to start Game 1 of the semifinals. Meanwhile, the two teams are tied at 8-8 on the season.
