Kim Sang-ah, ranked 66th on the season’s prize money list, defeated two-time defending champion Kang Ji-eun to reach the LPBA’s first quarterfinals, where she will face Baek Min-ju. The other quarterfinal will be between Kim Ga-young and Lim Jung-sook.
Kim Sang-ah (35) defeated Kang Ji-eun (SK Rent-a-Car Direct) in straight sets 3:2 (11:6, 11:10, 3:11, 7:11, 9:4) in the quarterfinals of the Hewons LPBA Championship on the fifth day of the 23/24 season at the Kintex PBA Dedicated Stadium in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do, Korea. Kim Sang-ah’s quarterfinal opponent is Baek Min-ju (27, Crown Hae-tae), who defeated Yong Hyun-ji 3:0.
Kim Ga-young (40, Hanacard) also defeated Jung Dahae (3:0) and will meet Lim Jung-sook (37, Crown Hae-tae) in the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Lim defeated Ha Yoon-jung 3:0 in straight sets.
The quarterfinal matchup between Kim and Lim is particularly intriguing as the five-time defending champion will be facing off against the four-time defending champion. The two players met in the final of this event last season, where Kim won the title with a 4:1 victory over Lim.
The match between Kim Sang-ah and Kang Ji-eun was the only one of the four quarterfinal matches to go to a full set.
Kim Sang-ah took the first and second sets to take the lead, but Kang Ji-eun fought back to take the third and fourth sets to level the match at 2-2. In the fifth set, the two players remained at 1:0 (Jieun Kang’s lead) until the fifth game, and neither could find any offense.메이저놀이터
However, Kim Sang-ah scored nine points in the next four innings (6-9) to close out the set with a 9:4 victory and secure her place in the quarterfinals.
Since making her LPBA debut in the 19/20 season, Kim Sang-ah has been in the bottom half of the standings every season without a clear performance. Her best result was a quarterfinal finish in the fifth round of the 20/21 season (Welcome Savings Bank). This season, she was also eliminated in the round of 128 in three of her four events. However, a six-match winning streak has seen him reach the quarterfinals, where he will be looking to make his first final appearance.
Kim Ga-young, who is trying to win her sixth career title, defeated Jung Da-hye in straight sets 3:0 (11:6, 11:5, 11:5) and Lim Jung-sook, who is trying to win her fifth title, defeated Ha Yoon-jung 3:0 (11:3, 11:2, 11:6). Baek Min-ju, the winner of the third match of the season (Hana Card Ship), also defeated Yong Hyun-ji 3:0 (11:5, 11:9, 11:9).
